Approtium agreement to supply clean ammonia with U.S. Tallgrass

U.S. energy company Toallgrass imports 800,000tons annually from 2027

Utilization of clean energy support for power generation

Approtium, South Korea's largest hydrogen manufacturer, will receive 800,000 tons of clean ammonia every year from Tallgrass, a U.S. energy company, from 2027.

Approtium new name of Ulsan-based Deokyang, and it is preparing for a new leap into a global company as it was acquired by a fund operated by Macquarie Asset Management in December last year.

James Kim, CEO of Approtium (formely Deokyang), the nation’s largest hydrogen manufacturer,

recently announced on the 27th that he agreed to supply 800,000 tons of clean ammonia per year from 2027

in cooperation with Tallgrass (CEO Damon Daniels)

Tallgrass is a company headquartered in Leewood, Kansas, USA, and supplies clean energy through carbon dioxide capture and its own piping network.

James Kim, CEO of Approtium (right in the picture) and Damon Daniels, chief operating officer of Tallgrass,

recently held a cooperative ceremony in Houston, USA, and agreed to supply 800,000 tons of clean ammonia every year from 2027.

The ammonia supplied by Tallgrass can be used as a clean energy source by capturing 95% of carbon in the production and transportation processes.

Imported clean ammonia is used by directly mixing ammonia with domestic coal power plants, or ammonia is supplied to LNG power plants by cracking (separation of hydrogen and nitrogen using heat and catalyst).

The company expected the cooperation to replace the shortage of clean energy production in Korea through its role as a necessary clean energy source for power generation in the future and increased imports in the future.

APPROTIUM is actively promoting clean hydrogen in Korea by signing an agreement with POSCO Group to produce 40,000 tons of clean hydrogen annually.
