Ulsan City Council (Chairman Kim Ki-hwan) is drawing attention as it creates its own support ordinance for major industries to create a business-friendly environment, and focuses on finding hydrogen and electric vehicle production sites in areas that are the core of future industries.
First of all, the city council's industrial construction committee (Chairman Moon Seok-joo) visited the Hyundai Motor hydrogen car plant in Ulsan on the 22nd to tour industrial facilities such as production lines and to tour the site of Korea's first electric vehicle production plant.
After hearing the explanation of the company's status and hydrogen production facilities, the committee members stressed, "Hydrogen is in the spotlight as a clean energy source due to the strengthening of global carbon neutrality, and securing competitiveness in the hydrogen industry through hydrogen use and transition to the hydrogen economy is paramount."
The committee members then visited Hyundai Motor's Ulsan plant and listened to explanations on the current status of the plant and toured the production line of the hydrogen car plant and the site of the plant exclusively for electric vehicle production.
The construction committee members said, "The hydrogen car market has tremendous potential for development, so please establish yourself as a leader in the global hydrogen car market by releasing new car models and sharing original technologies with suppliers."
They also said, "The Hyundai Motor's electric vehicle plant, which aims to be completed in 2025, is expected to not only pave the way for Ulsan to take a leap forward as a leading city in the future new growth industry, but also contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs."
Chairman Moon Seok-joo said, "These companies have grown into global companies with Ulsan citizens, and the city council will continue to pay attention and support to continue sustainable growth."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor's Ulsan electric vehicle plant will spend a total of 2 trillion won to start construction in 2023 and complete construction in 2025 on the site of the driving test site in Hyundai Motor's Ulsan plant.
In addition, it is the first time in 29 years that Hyundai Motor has built a new automobile plant in Korea since the construction of the Asan plant in 1996.
chi-rak Jung, chairman of the council's steering committee, proposed the Ulsan Automobile Industry Promotion and Support Ordinance to create a business-friendly environment and ultimately revitalize the local economy.
In this ordinance, the mayor of Ulsan was required to prepare necessary policies and provide administrative and financial support to continuously grow and develop the automobile industry and strengthen its competitiveness.
In addition, in order to foster the automobile industry, the city allowed the area within Ulsan City to be designated as a high-tech investment district under Article 22-6 of the Industrial Cluster Revitalization and Factory Establishment Act.
In particular, Ulsan City also included support for companies that establish or expand factories related to the automobile industry in the jurisdiction under the Ulsan City Ordinance on Corporate and Investment Attraction.
In addition, Ulsan City will be able to contribute, assist, and finance promising companies and research institutes related to the automobile industry △ Establish clusters such as automobile integration complexes, research institutes, and production facilities △ Securing technical personnel, fostering start-ups, expanding production support, and testing and certification projects.
