Approtium Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Joo-heon) announced its participation in H2 MEET 2023, held at KINTEX, Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province from September 13 (Wednesday) to September 15 (Friday).
Approtium, formerly known as "Ulsan San-so," has been engaged in gas supply infrastructure on a local scale since the early 1960s. Over the years, the company has achieved long-term growth and business expansion. As a result, they have secured approximately 60km of pipelines, 250 tube trailers, and other infrastructure, primarily centered around the Ulsan Petrochemical Complex. Approtium operates high-purity refining facilities and large-scale SMR(Steam Methane Reformers), supplying approximately 80,000 tons of hydrogen annually to Ulsan and domestic industrial clients.
During the recent exhibition, Approtium highlighted its capabilities as a company responsible for industrial hydrogen production and supply. The company's hydrogen production systems are established within their three plants in Ulsan. In the first plant(P1), they produce over 39,000 tons of hydrogen annually through refining and pressurization processes, supplying it to the Ulsan Petrochemical Complex and various locations across the country. Hydrogen transportation is carried out through both direct supply via surface and underground pipelines and high-pressure tube trailers.
The second and third plants(P2, P3) utilize high-temperature and high-pressure SMR to promote the reaction of natural gas and steam for hydrogen production. This process generates approximately 350 tons of liquid carbon dioxide per day, which can be stored and supplied in various forms and purities to accommodate the demands of various industrial clients.
Furthermore, Approtium is in the process of establishing a hydrogen hub pipeline network based on their carbon dioxide capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology. They have also secured a blue hydrogen production system through ammonia cracking technology. These initiatives align with their goal to supply "decarbonized, eco-friendly, clean hydrogen."
An Approtium representative stated, "We aim to strengthen safety and quality while practicing ESG management, aspiring to be a company respected by customers and local communities. We will continue to expand our role in low-carbon hydrogen production and distribution."
H2 MEET (Mobility+Energy+Environment+Technology) is a specialized hydrogen industry exhibition aimed at domestic and international companies and institutions involved in hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization. The event was organized by the H2 MEET Organizing Committee, including the Korean Automotive Mobility Industry Association, the Hydrogen Fusion Alliance, the Hydrogen Energy Network, the Korea Energy Corporation, and the Korean Industrial Federation Forum. Chevron, TUV Rheinland, BP, the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Phobia, and the Korea Construction Living Environment Test Research Institute served as the main sponsors. The exhibition was held concurrently with the K-BATTERY SHOW 2023, focusing on secondary battery materials, components, and equipment.
On this day, Approtium was recognized as an outstanding company in the content selected by AVING during the event.
